Ingredients

  • 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
  • 20 ounce can crushed pineapple
  • 1 teaspoon confectioner's sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • cup mint-flavored apple jelly

Instructions

  • Put 1 envelope unflavored gelatin in a saucepan with ½ cup syrup from a 20 ounce can crushed pineapple.
  • Place over low heat, stirring constantly, until gelatin is completely dissolved.
  • Remove from heat; add ⅓ cup mint-flavored apple jelly and stir until melted.
  • Add crushed pineapple and remaining juice.
  • Chill until mixture mounds slightly when dropped from a spoon.
  • Add 1 teaspoon confectioner's sugar to 1 cup heavy cream; beat until stiff.
  • Fold into gelatin mixture.
  • Turn into a 5 cup mold; chill until firm.
  • Unmold to serve and garnish with fresh mint.

Notes

(This recipe was in "The American Weekly" along with other recipes from the chef at the White House. I tried this and found it to be excellent. (Although I never did use fresh mint as a garnish!——other fruits in the season do very nicely.) This recipe will probably be as close as we'll ever get to the White House!)

#tbt Vintage Renwal Dollhouse bits and bobs

So earlier today I was wandering Facebook (as one tends to do) when Franklin Habit posted a photo that looked awfully familiar. Why yes, it was of the same mother and son Dollhouse Dolls that I inherited from #deadnancy. There is not a lot of information out there about the Renwal Company but I was able to find that they were a higher-end maker.

In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Ideal, Marx, and Renwal were the high-end manufacturers of dollhouse furniture. Plasco produced a more “generic” line of furniture designed to sell at a lower price point, 15 to 25 percent cheaper.

3 toilets
Yup, that is three toilets. I am sure the toilet seat for the white one was in the box but couldn’t find it.
Also there is a pink high chair/ toilet combo not pictured

Saturday Night Quickie

Saturday Night Quickie

Yes, Saturday Night Quickie is the name of the recipe. Yes, I’m giggling because I’m 12. Did I mention that this recipe is from a church cookbook (Amherst Community Church)?

I have questions, so many questions- Is the cheese supposed to be cut up in some way or is it just a block of cheese? Does the type of cheese matter? Can I get away with using Wegmans brand?
